About the Meeting

We are pleased to announce the 14th International Meeting on Rapid Response to Steroid Hormones, which will take place in Naples, Italy, from Thursday, September 24 to Saturday, 26 September 2026, at the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, S. Patrizia Auditorium, located in the heart of the city.

The meeting will bring together scientists, clinicians, and young researchers from around the world to explore, present, and discuss advances in the understanding of steroid hormone functions in both physiological and pathological systems.

Originally conceived to celebrate the rapid or “non-genomic” actions of steroid hormones, the conference also embraces their classical genomic actions. Through both pathways, steroid hormones control the functioning of the immune, cardiovascular, skeletal muscle, and nervous systems, and are key players in diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders.

This year’s meeting will be chaired by Prof. Pia Giovannelli (University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”) and co-chaired by Prof. Marzia Di Donato (University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”), and will commemorate two eminent scientists:

  • Prof. Brian J. Harvey (1957–2024), an innovator in cystic fibrosis and cancer research.
  • Prof. Étienne-Émile Baulieu (1926–2025), discoverer of the anti-progesterone RU-486 (mifepristone), a breakthrough in reproductive medicine, that transformed the lives of millions of women worldwide.

Up to 150 participants from around the world are expected to attend.
